MINIMA_WEEK TWO_LIZ WHITE

So, after the first week I had a lot to think about... I have scanned in my notes from the last tutorial to give you an idea of how my mind was jumping around.

Once the last tutorial was over I spent some time analysing the site, what it looked like, water levels etc, so I could choose a good place to place my Minima. You'll have to look at David's photo's untill I can post some of my own at a later date. From my drawings, photos and the time spent at the site I worked out where i wanted my Minima placed....

I decided to place my minima out on the pier, next to the 3rd bolard so i could gain the best views out to the ocien. More to come for next week....

Firstly sorry its taken so long, but as explained on our group blog...I'm silly. So, Minima, well what an experience. I think I'd be quite accurate in saying that in this one assignment I learnt more than in, perhaps, all the rest put together.


WEEK ONE

Well once the site was chosen by our group I started to look at the bubble diagrams. I'm not sure how useful i found them to my working style, though they did highlight that most functions could be performed in the same space except the shower/toilet are would need separation of some form.

Coming into my first tutorial session I think I was fairly confident that I had a solid concept to work with. Well, was I wrong? The answer...YES. It was pointed out to me, quite accurately, by my tutor that i was basically neglecting half the requirements. From the "self containable, demountable, relocatable living capsule for one person" I had come up with a design for a box made from concrete blocks. Practical for this assignment...in retrospect...lets just say I'm glad I listened to my tutor and went in another direction.

Welcome to my blog. Hope you can gain some insight into the inner workings of my designs, or at least give me some helpful hints to improve my work. I look forward to going through this journey with the great group that I have, and I'm sure we will all do a fantastic job on the projects to come. Well first off I'd like to apologise for my Minimal assignment not being posted, as well as any photos from my Minima assignment. I seem to have misplaced my memory card for my camera, so until I find it or can get a chance to photograph my work again my page will be photo less. Sorry guys.
