Domus - Reece R

Domus initial sketch ideas.

Working with different shapes, and elements from Frank Lloyd Wright.

A development of this idea into a 3D model using sketchup.

We decided that the above idea was too "house Like" so we considered and elevated shape, winding through the tree canopy of the Bells Beach site. We are also focussing our design around organic architecture, and relating the building to its surroundings.

This is a development of the communal area situated at the highest point from the ground, on our site. It has an eave over the end of the room, with a 5cm glass strip underneath giving the appearance of a floating roof.
This is an arial view of our domus design. It consists of a communal room, sleeping pods, and a bathroom and shower, toilet and laundry area.
We have organised the design around the tree tops, and designed the different areas of the structure as parts of a tree. This is seen in the branching out of different areas, which will then be held above the ground via poles acting as the tree branches and trunks.
