FINISHED DESIGN

My final design consists of ancient technologies, using two dugout boats, creating a catamaran for the transportation, which when on land stand up to create all of the storage requirements, a shower, a toilet, a desk and the cooking space. The opposite wall facing north is made up of a timber frame with cut bamboo rings making up 2/3rds of the wall. Apart from adding an aesthetic feature to the building the bamboo rings act to block out the high summer sun while allowing the low winter rays to warm the structure. Behind the bamboo walls are slender water tanks which appart from supplying the occupant with water also act to create a unique aesthetic effect as the water and light bounce off the bamboo's forms. In between the two bamboo sections is a bed which folds into the wall during the day and simply folds down at night. The two side walls as well as the roof fold into each other to reduce space when transporting. All of the energy requirements would be collected by the Photovoltaic Solar Cells. The roof is on a 10 degree north facing slant to make the panels most effective.
